1. Introduction

tutorat.ai is an application developed by TutorAide Inc., a company registered in Quebec, Canada. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

2. Data Collected

We only collect data necessary for the application to function:

  • Apple ID: used for authentication via Sign In with Apple. We never receive your password.
  • Email: provided by Apple during sign-in (may be a private relay address).
  • Name: optional, provided by Apple only during first sign-in.
  • School profile: level (Secondary 1 to 5), math stream (CST, SN, or TS), science profile, and interface language, selected by you so exercises match your curriculum.
  • Practice history: exercises completed, answers, progress by notion, and your spaced-repetition schedule.
  • Pomodoro sessions and duels: completed sessions, tomatoes harvested, and duel codes shared with your friends.
  • Notification token: only if you enable reminders; it is used to deliver notifications and nothing else.
  • Partner code: if you redeem one, we keep the code and its source to manage your Premium access.
  • Waitlist (website): if you leave your email before launch, it is used only to notify you at launch. Write to privacy@tutorat.ai to have it removed.

3. Work Photos (AI Tutor) and App Blocking

When you photograph your work for the AI tutor, the photo is sent to our server for AI analysis and then deleted immediately after processing. No photo is ever stored on our servers; only the generated verdict and hints are kept in your practice history.

App blocking (Focus Lock) runs entirely on your device, through Apple's Screen Time API. Your choice of blocked apps never leaves your device: we never know which apps you use.

4. Use of Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Serve you the right exercises for your level, your stream, and your week of the school calendar
  • Check your work and guide you with hints (AI tutor)
  • Bring fragile notions back at the right time (spaced repetition)
  • Track your progress and statistics
  • Send you study reminders (if enabled)
  • Improve the application (aggregated and anonymized data only)

5. What We Do NOT Do

  • We never sell your personal data
  • We do not display any advertisements
  • We do not share your data with third parties, except for AI processing (Anthropic Claude), subject to their own privacy policy — photos are analyzed then deleted, never stored
  • We do not track your activity outside of the application

6. Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers (Railway, Cloudflare R2) located in North America. Connections are encrypted via TLS. Authentication tokens are securely stored in your device's Keychain.

7. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete my account. This action is irreversible and permanently deletes all your data from our servers, in compliance with Apple App Store requirements.

8. Quebec Law 25

In accordance with Quebec's Law 25 on the protection of personal information, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Request the correction of your information
  • Request the deletion of your information
  • Withdraw your consent at any time
